La Plata: Uruguay are through to the Copa America final after defeating Peru 2-0 in the semi-final.
A brace from Luis Suarez put the nation on the verge of their 15th continental title, one that would put them ahead of Argentina.
After the contest, coach Oscar Tabarez praised the Liverpool striker along with the rest of the attack for obtaining the victory.
"He [Suarez] is an elite player in world football," Tabarez said in his post-match press conference. "We talked about having more presence up top. That is how we got the first goal. Forlan and Suarez appeared. After that, Peru kept attacking, but we had it under control."
The coach admitted he was expecting a tough fight from the Peruvians. "This rival was as difficult as we thought they would be. We had an experience with them in the first game.
"Our worry was [Paolo] Guerrero and [Juan Manual] Vargas. They are determined, but I think we controlled the game."
Now Uruguay are one game away from the title, and Tabarez feels the team will be ready. "We know that we can win and lose. Now we have the chance to win the final. We are going to try and win it," he added.
