Cristiano Ronaldo unveiled a new goal celebration after scoring against Al Fayha in the AFC Champions League. The Al Nassr star found the breakthrough for this team in the 81st minute of the game to secure a first-leg victory in the Round of 16 stage of the competition.
Having scored the goal, Ronaldo sprinted towards the corner flag and looked like he was going to perform his signature ‘SIU’ celebration. As Ronaldo jumped in the air, he did not spin like he always does. Instead, he brought his arms to his chest before closing his eyes to celebrate his goal.

Ronaldo scoring on Champions League night is a common sight for all fans of European football. Ronaldo won the UEFA Champions League a total of five times in his career. The first time he won the trophy was back in 2008 when he was playing for Manchester United. He then had to wait for six years before he could finally have his hands on the trophy again. In 2014, he broke several records by scoring 17 goals in the competition while also winning his second Champions League trophy. A couple of years later Ronaldo spearheaded Real Madrid’s historic three-peat where they won three consecutive Champions League titles while establishing an era.
Ronaldo’s longevity is one of the major reasons behind this successful career. His goal against Al Fayha was not just his first of 2024 but also his 23rd consecutive annual netting since 2002. Ronaldo broke the deadlock in the knockout game by playing a smooth one-two with Marcelo Brozovic. The former Inter Milan midfielder lofted his return pass over the Al-Fahya backline, making it easy for Ronaldo to get the last touch in for a goal.
Al Nassr will next play their second leg of the tie against Al Fahya on February 21. They are currently in a good position to make the quarter-finals stage and if things go right, the Saudi Pro League side could eventually win their first-ever continental title.
A total of four Saudi Arabian teams have reached the knockout stage of the AFC Champions League. Four-time winner of the competition Al-Hilal will be travelling to Iran to face Sephan whereas Al-Ittihad will lock horns with Uzbekistan side Navbahor.
