How to Make a Cobra With Plastic String
This wikiHow article will teach you how to make a cobra with plastic string (gimp string, scoubidou, etc.). The cobra braid may seem hard at first, but when you start to get the hang of it, you'll start to think it's easy.
Steps

Three to four string cobra braid

Choose any color string you want. Pick 3 to 4 strands of string. Only two of the strands will be used, however - the remaining strands will simply be used as a central strand. If done correctly, the central strand will not be able to be seen at all, so use a color you do not care about.

Cut the strands to length. Remember that the finished bracelet will be about 2 inches (5.1 cm) shorter than the length of the central strand, so cut the string accordingly. For the two working strands, cut a length that is about four times the length of the central strand.

Make a starter stitch at the top. Tie the two working strands together in a loose granny knot.Make a Cobra With Plastic String Step 3Bullet1.jpg Stick the end of the central strands into one of the outer knots and pull slightly through.Make a Cobra With Plastic String Step 3Bullet2.jpg Tighten the granny knot.Make a Cobra With Plastic String Step 3Bullet3.jpg

Take two pieces from the folded string. With one of them, make a loop and put it in the front.

Take one of the working strands. You will always start with this strand.

Make a loop over the central strand.

Place the other strand over the loop and pass it behind the central strand and through the loop you made with the first strand.

Pull it tight.

Repeat. Remember to always start with the same strand. Continue until you form a length long enough to turn into a bracelet.

Two string cobra braid

Take two pieces of different color gimp. The first piece is the working strand and the second piece is the inner string.

Take the second piece. Make a small loop in the middle and hold it.

Take the working strand and put it sideways, placing the middle part behind the bottom of the loop.

Take the right strand and toss it over to the other side. Make a very small hole in the right side with out letting go. Don't forget to hold on to the right strand after tossing it over.

Take the left strand next. Put it through the hole on the right, in much the same way. You have now made your first stitch.

Do the same thing over and over until the length is as desired.

Finished. It can now be tied together to form a bracelet or other item.

What's your reaction?
