Most recent mass entertainers across all film industries have set something of a trend where a twenty-something heroine is paired with a forty-plus hero. It is evident that this trend is solidifying its position as a key component among directors. This is not something new though as we have already seen Dilip Kumar romance a 20-year younger Saira Banu in films like Gopi and Sagina and a much older Vinod Khanna fall for a young Madhuri Dixit in Dayavan.

The Telugu industry, however, receives the most flak for casting leading men well into their 50s and even 60s opposite much younger women. But we can come up with a few exceptions in the Telugu industry, where, in fact, the reverse has taken place with the leading actress being a few years older than their leading men. This is considered a deviation from the preconceived notion that the hero has to be older than the actress. Let us take a look at some examples.

Anushka Shetty-Rana Daggubati

This pair was paired opposite each other in Rudhramadevi. Anushka Shetty is older than Rana Daggubati by 3 years, with her being 41 years old while Rana is 38.
