Chiranjeevi’s recently released Bholaa Shankar met with a poor response at the box office. The film failed to attract the audience to the theatres leading to its underwhelming performance. The film, which hit the silver screens on August 11, was a big letdown and now, the action drama is set for its OTT release.
A report published by Filmibeat confirmed that the streaming rights of Bholaa Shankar have been purchased by OTT platform Netflix as they shelled out a whopping amount of money for the same. The film will be made available for streaming from September 15. However, an official announcement on the same is yet to be made by the makers.
Notably, Bholaa Shankar was reportedly made on a budget of Rs 80 crore. However, the film hardly reached the 30-crore mark. The film’s first-day collection was Rs 16.25 crore. However, it slowed down from the second day and declined by -68.92 per cent. One of the reasons why the film couldn’t perform well at the box office was its stiff competition from Jailer, OMG 2 and Gadar 2. These films led Bholaa Shankar to have a hard time attracting viewers.
Bholaa Shankar is the remake of the 2015 Tamil film Vedalam, headlined by Ajith. As far as the storyline is concerned, the film revolves around a brother who is on his journey to avenge criminals. The film boasts an ensemble cast starring Tamannaah Bhatia, Keerthy Suresh, Raghu Babu, Murli Sharma and others. The background score and music for the film were composed by Mahathi Swara Sagar.
The trailer for the film was unveiled by actor Ram Charan. Such was the buzz around the film that it received 16 million views within just seven days. Considering the hype, the film was expected to be a blockbuster at the box office. However, it failed to make a mark.
