Dr. A. Madhusudhan, a doctor turned politician, has been dedicated to serving the financially disadvantaged segment of society. His commitment to public welfare was evident when he secured a massive victory in the Andhra Pradesh MLC Election 2023, representing the Kurnool local bodies constituency. Dr Madhusudhan received an overwhelming 988 votes out of the total 1,136 votes, underlining his popularity as a YSRCP leader.

Despite his remarkable service to the community, Dr Madhusudhan’s passion for helping those in need has driven him towards a new endeavour in the agricultural sector. Recognizing the challenges faced by the economically vulnerable due to fluctuating prices of fruits and vegetables, he has embarked on a mission to cultivate organic fruits and make them available at more affordable prices than the market.

Dr. Madhusudhan’s latest agricultural project involves the cultivation of Guava on a 7-acre plot in Adoni Pattana, situated in Kurnool district. Guava is renowned for its nutritional benefits, including protein, carbohydrates, and a range of health advantages such as weight loss, anti-cancer properties, immune system support, digestive health, and heart health.

The Guava orchards were established with trees purchased from Kadiam Nursery near Rajahmundry, in the district, with each tree acquired for Rs 30. Dr. Madhusudhan’s commitment to organic farming is evident, as he refrains from using pesticides or chemical fertilizers in the orchard, ensuring that the fruit remains chemical-free and nutritious.

In a conversation with News18, Dr Madhusudhan revealed that the initial yield from the fruit trees was an impressive 5 tons per acre, and in the second year, it doubled to 10 tons. Currently, the farm is capable of cultivating 5 tons of guavas daily. The market value of guava fruits ranges from Rs 20,000 to Rs 35,000 per ton. Although there are investment and transportation costs, the income generated from selling these guavas proves to be profitable. With a daily yield of 5 tons, the cultivation can yield up to Rs 1 lakh, or potentially more, depending on the prevailing rates.
