It’s typical for actors and actresses to receive more money for their subsequent films following the success of the previous ones. This is a particularly prevalent pattern among the lead heroes and heroines who perform the majority of the work. They often increase their remuneration once their crowd-pulling power increases. But in recent times, both the industry and fans have realised that supporting artists have equal contributions to the success of any film and their demands cannot be ignored.
In the Telugu film industry, senior actress Pragathi has been playing supporting roles in films for more than two decades. She started her career playing Mahesh Babu’s mother in the 2002 film Bobby and over the next two decades, played motherly characters in many films.
Her career received a major boost after 2019’s F2: Fun and Frustration starring Venkatesh and Varun Tej, where she displayed good comic timing. She followed it up with the sequel F3 in 2021 where she reprised her role. According to reports, after the success of F3, Pragathi has significantly increased her remuneration.
Reports claim that the actress asks for a staggering Rs 50,000 per call sheet for medium-scale productions, which she increases to Rs 70,000 for big production houses. But reports also suggest that she is flexible according to the scale of production and asks for a smaller amount for smaller roles.
Pragathi made a big splash last year when she talked about her casting couch experience during her early days in the Telugu film industry. She claimed that at that difficult moment, not only the director but also an actor approached her and asked her to spend some time with them in order for her career to spiral upward.
Pragathi claimed that she was told to be with them for an entire day in order to land a part in the movie. Although Pragati withheld the name of the actor or director, she did indicate that numerous young women were still facing this in the field. The actress now often shares her fitness regime and training videos on her social handle, something that she had started during the pandemic-induced lockdown.
