Both Jr NTR and his uncle Nandamuri Balakrishna are doing quite well in their respective careers presently. While Jr NTR received not just pan-India but global acclaim for his performance in SS Rajamouli’s RRR last year, Nandamuri Balakrishna has had two hits this year in the form of Veera Simha Reddy and Bhagavanth Kesari. Both the heroes have massive fan followings in their own right. And it seems that both their films are set to class next year.
Jr NTR will next be seen in a movie named Devara, directed by Koratala Siva. This movie may be a redemption for the filmmaker whose last film Acharya, starring Chiranjeevi was a washout. Devara is based on the sea mafia and is touted to have breathtaking water action sequences. Janhvi Kapoor is playing the female lead opposite Jr NTR and the film is scheduled for an April 5 release next year.
Now, there are unconfirmed reports that Nandamuri Balakrishna’s next film will also be released around the same time. The makers of the film, tentatively titled NBK109, have confirmed that the film has gone on floors. NBK109 is directed by Bobby Kolli, who directed Waltair Veerayya starring Chiranjeevi which clashed with Nandamuri Balakrishna’s own Veera Simha Reddy.
Bobby first revealed the project in June of this year. The movie is presented by Srikara Studios and is financed by Naga Vamsi S and Sai Soujanya under the banners of Sithara Entertainments and Fortune Four Cinema. We anticipate hearing more information about the cast and crew soon. However, rumours regarding the release date have already surfaced and supposedly it will be released on March 29 next year. This means that the movie may release a week before Devara. It remains to be seen if there is any truth to these reports.
Jr NTR and Nandamuri Balakrishna have competed at the box office earlier as well. In 2016, Jr NTR’s Nannaku Prematho and Nandamuri Balakrishna’s Dictator were released within a gap of just one day.
