In 2004, Katrina Kaif marked her debut in the Telugu industry with the movie Malliswari along with Venkatesh Daggubati and later in 2005, she starred in Allari Pidugu opposite Nandamuri Balakrishna, Puneet Issar and others. While her stint in the industry was short, she reportedly stayed in touch with the actors and directors.
Reportedly, a South actor once took a loan of Rs 5 crore from her. If the rumours are anything to go by, the actor wanted to become a producer and make a movie. Katrina Kaif readily gave the money to him. However, after the movie was made, the South hero did not bring up the matter of money with her or showed any intention of returning the money.
When the actress asked the man for the money twice or thrice, he said that he had given her the money. He allegedly never returned it and the actress decided to never trust and lend money to anyone. There is no official confirmation regarding this.
Katrina Kaif has also worked in the Malayalam film industry and delivered a movie titled Balram vs. Tharadas in 2006. She starred opposite Mammootty, Mukesh and Siddique. The movie is directed by IV Sasi and is written by T Damodaran. While the actress has not starred in any more south-Indian movies, she is soon to star with Vijay Sethupathi in her upcoming movie Merry Christmas. The movie is directed by Sriram Raghavan. The movie has been shot in Tamil and Hindi. It also stars Sanjay Kapoor, Vinay Pathak, Tinnu Anand and many others.
