Chiranjeevi is one of the most popular actors. He has also rejected some films which were headlined by other popular actors later. According to reports, one of those films is the Nandamuri Balakrishna starrer Narasimha Naidu directed by Gopal B. Narasimha Naidu’s writer Chinni Krishna initially wanted Chiranjeevi should play the lead role in the film.
As per reports, he narrated the story to Chiranjeevi but he didn’t approve of the storyline. Chinni then narrated the script to Nandamuri Balakrishna with Gopal B. Balayya, as Nandamuri Balakrishna is popularly known by fans, gave his go-ahead to the storyline. The rest, as well known, is history.
Narasimha Naidu turned out to be one of the biggest hits of Balayya’s cinematic career. He was the winner of the 2002 Nandi Awards as well for this film under the best actor category. Narasimha Naidu was released on the big screens on January 11, 2001.
Gopal B and Chinni Krishna, however, teamed up with Chiranjeevi for the film Indra. Indra also became a big hit and set the cash registers ringing. According to IMDB, it became the first Telugu film to garner more than Rs 30 crore at the box office. This film was released on the big screens on July 24, 2002.
As of now, Chiranjeevi is currently reeling from the underwhelming performance of his films. His recent films Acharya, Godfather, Waltair Veerayya and Bholaa Shankar have tanked at the box office. According to a report published in the Indian Herald, Chiranjeevi demands big fees and doesn’t care about the quality of their films’ production as well. His salary accounts for 70 per cent of the movie’s budget. Only 30 per cent of the budget is allocated to production, which leads to subpar production quality in his films. Due to such a small portion of budgetary allocation for production, Chiranjeevi is unable to hire competent directors and technicians.
Chiranjeevi is now looking forward to his film Vishwambara directed by Mallidi Vasishta.
