13-year-old electrocuted in school

SRIVILLIPUTHUR: Nagakani (13), son of Vettrivel of Kunnoor East Street and a standard VIII student of the Kamarajar Middle School at Kunnoor village in  Srivilliputtur taluk, Virudhunagar district, was electrocuted in the school on Thursday.Nagakani had clasped a steel pipe between the two classrooms and suffered a shock and died on the spot.  Following his death, a holiday was declared for the school. Tahsildar Veeraraghavan and Elementary Education Officer Rajaram conducted inquiries. Police said the school authorities had offered compensation to the family of Nagakani.Meanwhile, Samuelraj, State secretary of the Untouchability Eradication Front, in a statement, blamed the school administration and the headmaster saying that the boy had died due to their carelessness. He demanded action against the school authorities.The Krishnankovil police have registered a case.
