TIRUPUR: Three youth from Coimbatore were killed and three others seriously injured in a collision between a mini door van and a goods van near Udumalpet on Thursday night.According to police, Santhosh Kumar (23), a resident of Ondipudur in Coimbatore and an auto driver, had gone to attend a friend’s marriage in Palani on Thursday along with four other friends. On Thursday night, all of them were returning to Coimbatore via Udumalpet. Santhosh Kumar was at the wheel. As they were nearing Udumalpet on Palani Road, Santhosh lost control of the vehicle and rammed a goods van coming from the opposite direction. In the impact, all of them sustained severe injuries. On information, police reached the spot and rushed the injured to the Udumalpet GH.However, Prabhakaran from Udumalpet succumbed to injuries, while the others were referred to the Coimbatore Medical College Hospital (CMCH).Meanwhile Ramkumar (33), a resident of Ondipudur, and Sathish alias Anthoniraj of Nadar Colony, Tiruchy Road in Coimbatore, died at the CMCH. Another passenger Manokaran (23), van driver Santhoskumar and goods van driver Sundaraj are undergoing treatment at CMCH and a private hospital. Udumalpet police registered a case.
