With a wish to watch BTS concert in South Korea, three female students from Tamil Nadu’s Karur district ran away from their homes on January 4. The three students, who were studying in class 8 of a government school, were later rescued by the police.

The girls are ardent followers of the popular Korean pop band, BTS and had left for their school in Thanthonimalai but never returned.

The matter came to light after their teachers informed their parents about their absence in school. Following that, the parents filed a missing complaint with the police.

As per an India Today report, a search was launched on the basis of the complaint, following which CCTV at bus stops and railway stations were scanned. In an attempt to track the location of the girls, two special teams were also formed.

In one of the security camera footages, the girls were spotted boarding a train from Karur railway station which indicated that they were not kidnapped. The Railway Police, soon, issued an alert to all train stations to track the girls, following which the trio were found at Katpadi railway station, and was rescued by the police.

While talking to the police the girls told the police that they had watched BTS music performance on their parents’ smartphones and left home to reach Korea to watch their concert.

The amount that the three girls had fled their home with was reportedly spent on shopping for accessories for the concert. The girls later realised that they didn’t have enough money to reach Korea and thereby decided to return to Karur, as per the India Today report.

The missed their train and were left clueless after they got down at the Katpadi junction to eat. Upon realising that the girls were lost, the people at the station alerted police which eventually led to their rescue.

After being rescued, the girls were first produced before district official and were then sent to a children’s home where they had to undergo counselling. Following that, the girls were handed over to their parents.
