33 kids hurt in school van mishaps

THOOTHUKUDI/T’MALAI/THANJAVUR: Ten school children were injured when the school van they were travelling in overturned near Kovilpatti on Thursday.The van of a private school after picking up children from Kadalaiyoor while nearing Poosaripatti overturned and plunged into a  small channel.Ten children were injured and were rushed to Kovilpatti GH. In another accident, 15 students who were travelling in a school bus, sustained serious injuries when the bus bumped into a lorry near Pudhumallavadi in Tiruvannamalai. The bus had picked up the students from Polur on its way to Tiruvannamalai. In yet another accident, eleven persons, including eight children of a private school were severely injured after the school van they were travelling in hit a tree on Thanjavur-Nagapattinam High Road. The school van in Saliyakottai was on its way to Ammapettai, when the axle broke and hit a tree. Eight girl students and three teachers were injured. Naalaatinputhur, Tiruvannamalai and Ammapettai police have registered cases.
