PUDUCHERRY: A total of 57 people suffered minor injuries when a sand-laden lorry collided with a passenger bus near Kirumambakkam here, on Monday. The accident occurred near a private medical college when the lorry driver while trying to avoid hitting a two-wheeler lost control of the vehicle and ended up hitting the front portion of the bus. The injured were given treatment at a private medical college.Cricket match dispute ends in murderPuducherry: A petty dispute during a cricket match here, on Sunday night, ended in one person being murdered. According to Auroville police, Vinoth (26) was murdered by a group of 10 people following a quarrel, while playing a cricket match. Vinoth, who belongs to Kennedy Street of Kamaraj Nagar, Puducherry, was murdered by the 10 accused 300 metres into the TN territory. Auroville police said that a team led by inspector Shakthivel had launched a search for the accused, who were absconding.Missing youth’s associates questionedChennai: The associates of a missing youth are being questioned over his disappearance since May 10, even as reports that a male body found in Tondiarpet was that of the 18-year-old labourer turned out to be false.The family of Babu alias Dilli Babu, a resident of Navalar Quarters in R K Nagar, lodged a ‘man missing’ complaint at the local police station after the youth failed to return home on May 10. They expressed their suspicion that Babu, who worked in a lathe workshop, could have been murdered by his friends. “The missing youth is a drug addict and we are questioning his friends over his disappearance,” Inspector Ramesh Babu said.Meanwhile, an unidentified male body found in Tondiarpet, thought to be that of the missing youth, turned out to be a false lead.
