Ahmedabad: The Gujarat Forest department on Tuesday sent a notice to actor Aamir Khan for allegedly violating the Wildlife Act during the making of his film Lagaan eight years ago.
Forest officials said that the notice was served as Aamir had filmed a Chinkara without the permission of the Gujarat Forest department in the Kutch district.
Aamir had sought permission to film chinkaras in his film, Lagaan, shooting for which was held mostly in Kutch .
The department, however, refused permission for the commercial use of chinkaras, an endangered species.
However, when released, the film was found to have footage of the species.
The department had on Monday sent a notice to his entire production team for filming the Chinkara without its permission, Forest officials said.
The department has given him a week's time to reply to the notice. Aamir and his team were in parts of Kutch district for months for the shooting of Lagaan.
