New Delhi: Aam Admi Party MLA Alka Lamba was attacked by unidetified assailtants during an anti-narcotics drive on Sunday.
The incident took place at North Delhi's Kashmere Gate area.
"A stone was thrown at my head, and I started bleeding and it all happened very fast, the harasser just wanted to scare people and get everyone to run from the place and he succeeded in doing so. A lot of locals were present and they were afraid to raise their voice, but we are starting a movement because of this incident, and we hope it will be successful" said Lamba.
The Delhi Police has detained one person in connection with the attack who is being interrogated.
Meanwhile, AAP leader Ashutosh has hinted at BJP being behind the attack. He said that the suspect was nabbed from a shop which was owned by BJP MLA Om Prakash Sharma.
"local people have told us that alka lamba was attacked by a man standing in a sweet shop belonging to Om Prakash Sharma opposite where the rally was happening. The boy attacked from there. Local people have told us the shop belongs to Om Prakash who is a local vidhayak. is it a mere coincidence or a shadyantra?" said Ashutosh.
