Salem is currently lodged in Aurthur Road jail in Mumbai. Special TADA judge Pramod Kode gave permission to Delhi police to take Salem.

Salem will be produced in a Delhi local court on February 8.

There are two extortion cases registered against him in Delhi. One dates back to 2002 while the other to 1998. Delhi police will seek his police custody for questioning.

Salem will have to be brought back to Mumbai by February 23.

The gangster – extradited from Portugal in 2005 – faces trial in eight cases in the country. But barring the 1993 blasts case, now charges have not been framed against him in any other case.
