Expressing his desire to make Mumbai city more vibrant, Yuva Sena president and son of Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray, Aditya Thackeray, on Thursday, said that keeping eateries and chemists open throughout the night would help people who work very late into the night.
"Food should be made available to people working late into the night. All eateries right from roadside joints to five-star hotels should be kept open at night. It is not about nightlife, but making the city more vibrant," Aditya said.
Dispelling notions that there would be any security issues, he said that since a lot of people would be out on the streets, there would not be any security issue.
A proposal in this regard mooted by Aditya would soon be tabled before Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) Commissioner Sitaram Kunte for approval.
Shiv Sena corporator Makrand Narvekar would table the proposal, after which it would be sent to the Maharashtra government for necessary amendments in the Maharashtra Shops and Establishments Act.
Aditya said that keeping eateries open would be subject to the interest and willingness of owners.
