New Delhi: As the news of the blast in Hyderabad’s Mecca Masjid spread, a high alert was sounded in Mumbai and Bangalore. The alert came after the Mecca blast was likened to the one that occurred in Maharashtra’s Malegaon last year.
Meanwhile, Centre is closely monitoring situation in the Hyderabad in which six persons have been killed and four others - including two children - were injured.
The Home Ministry has demanded a report from the Andhra Pradesh government and sources say the officials are is in constant touch with the state government officials.
Centre has also put the Rapid Action Force stationed at Hyderabad at Andhra government's disposal and a forensic team has also been rushed to Hyderabad.
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajshekhar Reddy, who is in Delhi, spoke with Hyderabad DGP Basith and other senior state government officials and took stock of the situation.
Home Minister Jana Reddy said that police reinforcements are being sent to the area and the situation would be brought under control.
The Mecca mosque is said to be over 400 years old and is considered holy by people of Hyderabad, the rest of Andhra Pradesh and elsewhere.
