New Delhi: Ahead of the trust vote in the Uttar Pradesh assembly, the BJP on Saturday said that all options including the resignations of party MLAs were open as it demanded imposition of President's rule to ensure free and
fair elections.
Senior party leader and former UP Chief Minister Kalyan Singh said that "all options are option" on being asked whether resignation of party MLAs was one of the moves being contemplated.
A decision on this will be taken by the BJP MLAs at its meeting in Lucknow today.
On record, BJP has 83 MLAs of whom 11 are said to have voted for the Mulayam Singh Yadav Government in the trust vote last month while five MLAs sided with Mayawati on Saturday.
Singh's comments came as BJP's top leaders including Atal Bihari Vajpayee, L K Advani and Rajnath Singh discussed main Opposition's strategy inside and outside Parliament on issues like Quattrochhi and the seven-phased month-long UP elections which starts on April seven.
He dismissed the trust vote called by UP Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav on Monday as a "route drama enacted every month.”
The handing over of resignations by all BSP MLAs was also "another drama", he said adding, "Both Yadav and Mayawati will be exposed in the upcoming elections.”
