New Delhi: Andaleeb Sehgal, Director of Hamdan Exports, was today questioned for the third consecutive
day by the Enforcement Directorate along with his business partner Vikas Dhar to ascertain movement of funds in their bank accounts.
Sehgal, considered a close friend of Union Minister K Natwar Singh's son Jagat, and Dhar were questioned for about eight hours in the ED office, which monitors the inflow of foreign exchange from abroad.
The ED had earlier searched the residence and office of Sehgal on
Sunday in connection with allegations that he had been a non-contractual beneficiary in Iraq's oil-for-food programme.
Sources in the ED said that Sehgal also known as "Andy" was asked to provide details of all the bank transactions and related douments.
They said Jagat Singh, the Union Minister's son, was likely to be questioned soon. However, there was no official confirmation to this.
The Hamdan Exports Director again refused to talk to the waiting media outside ED's Lok Nayak Bhavan.
Family sources alleged that ED officials attempted to browbeat Sehgal into giving a statement that he passed on money to former External Affairs Minister K Natwar Singh. ED officials were not available to react to this charge.
Sehgal, however, has denied any business links with Natwar Singh or Congress and rejected allegations of receiving commissions in Iraq's oil-for-food programme.
