Around 27 Feared Dead In Stampede During 'Satsang' In UP's Hathras; Top Officials Rush To Site
As per official sources, a team consisting of ADG Agra and Aligarh Commissioner has been constituted to enquire into the cause of the incident

Around 27 people are feared to have died in a stampede during a religious congregation in Uttar Pradesh’s Hathras on Tuesday.

Senior Superintendent of Police, Etah, Rajesh Kumar Singh said the incident occurred at a ‘satsang’ in Pulrai village.

“Twenty-seven bodies have arrived in Etah hospital. Among those killed are 23 women, three children and a man,” the official told reporters.

He said people had gathered large numbers for the event.

The stampede apparently occurred due to overcrowding, Sikandara Rao police station SHO Ashish Kumar said.

According to official sources, a team consisting of ADG Agra and Aligarh Commissioner has been constituted to enquire into the cause of the incident.

UP CM Adityanath Asks Officials To Visit Site

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed his condolences for the deceased of the Hathras stampede incident and has ordered administrative officials to visit the site.

Taking to X, he said, “UP CM Yogi Adityanath has expressed condolences to the bereaved families of those who died in the accident in Hathras district. He has also wished for the speedy recovery of the injured. He has directed the district administration officials to immediately take the injured to the hospital for their proper treatment and to speed up the relief work at the spot. He has given instructions to investigate the causes of the incident under the leadership of ADG Agra and Commissioner Aligarh.”

President Murmu Expresses Condolences

President Droupadi Murmu took to her official X account and said, “The news of the death of many devotees including women and children in the accident in Hathras district of Uttar Pradesh is heart-rending. I express my deepest condolences to those who lost their family members and pray for the speedy recovery of those injured.”
