Ahead of the Haryana Assembly elections, a significant measure has been announced to ensure a smooth electoral process. Liquor shops in districts within 3km of the Haryana border in Uttar Pradesh, including Mathura, Gautam Buddha Nagar, Baghpat, Aligarh, Saharanpur, and Shamli, will be closed.
This ban will be in effect starting 48 hours before voting on October 1. It will continue through to the counting of votes on October 5. The measure aims to maintain order and prevent potential disruptions during the election period.
District officials have been instructed to ensure that the liquor shops remain closed in Uttar Pradesh districts bordering Haryana during the upcoming Assembly elections.
Voting in Haryana will be held on October 1 and the counting of votes will be done on October 5. A liquor ban will be enforced starting 48 hours before voting and will remain in place until the counting is completed. This measure aims to maintain law and order resulting in a dry day across certain districts of Uttar Pradesh.
In addition to the liquor ban, the police are working to ensure security, fair elections, and a peaceful environment. In Rohtak district, blockades have been put up at 15 locations to facilitate the election process.
On Friday, Superintendent of Police Himanshu Garg inspected these checkpoints and reviewed the security measures. He was accompanied by the Deputy Superintendent of Police, the in-charge of the local police station, and other officers. The police, supported by paramilitary forces, have put robust arrangements in place to ensure fair elections.
Meanwhile, in Jharkhand, the border areas with Bihar will be sealed ahead of the Assembly elections. Special surveillance will be in place for the riverine regions along the border. An interstate meeting was held in Aurangabad, Bihar, on Thursday to discuss preparations for the Jharkhand assembly elections.
