Even on the most crowded red carpet Jennifer Lopez is unlikely to bump into ex-fiancé, Ben Affleck.

New Delhi: You can bet that none of the celebrities attending the Academy Awards function will be ducking behind a massive gold statue or sprinting down the red carpet to evade a former flame.

Why would they? While the majority of heartbroken Americans must devise their own strategies for dodging former sweethearts, celebrities have publicists to deftly manage their Ex-Capades.

“Make no mistake about it, these things are very choreographed,” said Ronn Torossian, chief executive of 5W Public Relations, whose clients have included Sean Combs, Snoop Dogg and Pamela Anderson.

Even on the most crowded red carpet, Sienna Miller is unlikely to bump into her ex-fiancé, Jude Law, just as Jennifer Aniston is unlikely to climb out of a limousine and suddenly find herself face to face with her ex-husband, Brad Pitt.

Such indignities need not be suffered by celebrities whose pockets go deeper than their commitment did — Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck, Hilary Swank and Chad Lowe, Kate Hudson and Chris Robinson, to name a few.

While money can’t buy love, it can buy a publicist, one who knows that keeping Tom Cruise- and Nicole Kidman-caliber exes apart can require a level of orchestration. The goal is to avoid the photograph seen round the world of two exes in the same frame.

Luckily for famous exes, when it comes to walking the red carpet at the Academy Awards, they are able to put more distance between themselves than one might expect.
