Bangladesh's main opposition alliance led by Awami League President Sheikh Hasina has decided to participate in polls.
New Delhi: Bangladesh's main opposition alliance led by Awami League President Sheikh Hasina has decided to participate in the elections in the country. The polls are to be held on January 22.
The parliamentary polls will possibly end weeks of political uncertainty in the country.
The Opposition's decision to take part in the elections came after the election commission extended deadline for filing nominations.
The 14-party alliance has been waging street protests for electoral reforms since October after Prime Minister Khaleda Zia stepped down to appoint a caretaker government to oversee the elections.
