HYDERABAD: The issue of state bifurcation is at the centrestage once again.AICC general secretary Ghulam Nabi Azad has invited Seemandhra leaders to Delhi for talks on Sept 12 in an attempt to bring about a consensus in the Congress.Azad has already held one round of consultations with leaders of Andhra and Rayalaseema regions and both the sides stuck to their guns. The leaders of the Andhra region led by Eluru MP Kavuri Sambasiva Rao and Primary Education Minister S Shailajanath will be attending the meeting.“We will tell the party leadership in no uncertain terms that the State should remain united,” Shailajanath told reporters. The Seemandhra leaders are keen on impressing upon the party high command that they would not settle for anything less than a united State.Their hardened stance comes in the wake of the Telangana leaders stepping up pressure on the leadership to divide the state and the Telangana Joint Action Committee going ahead with its Sakala Janula Samme from Sept 13.Recently, the Telangana Congress leaders have set a deadline of Sept 30 for the party leadership to come up with an announcement on the formation of Telangana. The Congress Telangana Steering Committee chairman K Keshava Rao had said that though they wanted the party to announce Telangana on Sept 17 on the occasion of the Hyderabad Liberation Day, they were willing to give time till the end of the month. They had warned that they would intensify their agitation if the party sought more time.
