New Delhi: The threatened two-day strike at British Airways this week was called off on Monday after the airline managed a last-minute deal with the union.
Though the deal ensured that the strike was called off, it was too late to prevent some disruption to flights at London's Heathrow and Gatwick airports on Wednesday and Thursday, the airline said.
BA Chief Executive Willie Walsh said they would try to reinstate as many flights as they could for the next few days.
The Transport and General Workers' Union also agreed to call off two 72-hour strikes they had planned next month.
Thousands of BA cabin crew had planned to stage a two-day strike at the end of the month after talks between the carrier and its largest union broke down last week.
