BANGALORE: Bangalore University Vice-Chancellor Dr N Prabhu Dev has woken up to the fact that the varsity houses scrap items worth at least Rs 5 crore. In response to the report published in The New Indian Express on Saturday, Prabhu Dev called in to say that he would look into the matter seriously.
“I am shocked and surprised to learn that BU has scrap-items worth crores. I will take it up seriously. First of all, I will confirm the amount of scrap that is present and its worth,” he told Express. When asked what he would do with the returns on scrap, he said: “I cannot take a decision on that. I will place it before the Syndicate to decide how to utilise the returns.”
“The responsibility of bringing it to the notice of the officials lies with the University Engineer. I will ask him to prepare an official proposal,” he said.
On Saturday, Registrar (Administration) B C Mylarappa had visited the Central College campus for an inspection of the boys hostel and Mechanical, Chemistry and Computer Science laboratories at University Visvesvaraya College of Engineering (UVCE).
