Banners dot Puducherry despite ban

PUDUCHERRY: Illegal banners, cutouts and posters continue to dot Puducherry despite notice by sub-divisional magistrate, North, (SDM)P Jawahar to Commissioners of municipality and commune panchayats under 133 CrPC to remove the illegal banners, posters, hoardings and cutouts by July 7 in compliance with a ban order under the Prevention of Disfigurement Act.The SDM initiated proceedings based on a public petition and issued notices on May 31.However, during enquiry on June 15, the commissioners appealed for a week’s time. Three weeks time was granted, which expired on July 7.
