The state government will be taking up measures for creating basic infrastructure facilities for educational institutions in the Integrated Tribal Development Agency (ITDA) areas in the state in a phased manner with Rs 600 crore. Further, 22 skill development and training centres at eight major ITDA centres in the state will be set up with an investment of Rs 3 crore each. Measures to improve health infrastructure by posting doctors and para-medical staff on a large scale will be taken.
Disclosing the measures at an interaction with nearly 1,000 tribal people from 10 districts and performed traditional dances at chief minister’s camp office here on Monday to thank him for the Sunnapuvarigudem Declaration, chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy said he believed that development of state was complete only when the people living in remote areas and belonging to downtrodden communities developed and enjoyed fruits of progress.
He said he interacted with people from remote areas of those districts and took stock of their problems. “Every effort will be made to address the issues that concern them. Welfare and development programmes meant for them will be expedited,” he said.
The chief minister said that as part of the declaration rights to land would be given to tribals, all claims pending under the Forest Rights Act would be addressed, lands would be developed under NREGS, 2,700 teacher posts would be sanctioned for tribal areas, focus would be put on tribal areas which lack educational facilities and lift irrigation projects.
Setting up of skill development centres under RYK and filling up of all the key posts in major tribal centres in the State would be taken up in six months. Out of the proposed two tribal battalions, one would be constituted by Primitive Tribal Groups, he said.
