Bihar Youth Congress workers block roads, railways
Hundreds of youths, led by party's state youth wing chief Lalan Kumar, brought out a march in the state capital.

Patna: Bihar Youth Congress activists blocked roads and railway tracks at some places to enforce its chakka jam programme to press for an independent inquiry into alleged irregularities in utilisation of funds meant for development of the state, officials said.

Hundreds of youths, led by party's state youth wing chief Lalan Kumar, brought out a march in the state capital and tried to disrupt vehicular traffic at Bailey road, they said.

They smashed the windscreen of a police jeep, damaged glasses of motorcycles and cars of Income Tax department.

Police soon intervened and controlled them with mild use of force, they said, adding around 50 youth activists of the Congress, including Lalan Kumar, were detained.

An official report from Ara in Bhojpur district, said some youths blocked the tracks at Ara railway station disrupting movement of trains on Patna-Buxar-Mughalsarai section of East Central Railway for a couple of hours.

They also blocked roads in Ara and Madhepura in support of the demand, they said, adding over 200 activists were detained at different places in the state.
