HYDERABAD: BJP national secretary Dr K Laxman has demanded the government to take over Regency Ceramics factory in Yanam. In press release here on Saturday, the BJP leader said that the workers of the factory have been agitating for the last few months but the management did not heed to their demands resulting in loss of precious lives of two persons.The BJP leader held the government responsible for the incident and said that the government policies created unrest among the workers' community.He said the government should take steps to restore peace in Yanam. He demanded the government to take over Regency Ceramics to create confidence among the workers.The BJP leader demanded the government to pay Rs 10 lakh compensation to the kin of the worker who lost his life in the police firing and Rs 5 lakh to those injured in the firing and lathicharge.Meanwhile Lok Satta Party president Jayaprakash Narayan asked the state government to prevail upon the Union government to institute a thorough inquiry into the Yanam labour unrest and said that Yanam’s economy is connected with East and West Godavari districts.
