Pandemonium erupted in Uttarakhand Assembly on Wednesday when BJP members stormed into the well alleging that a state minister had granted lakhs of rupees as subsidy to her husband and son illegally for making a polyhouse, leading to adjournment of the proceedings for three times.
BJP members, led by Leader of the Opposition Ajay Bhatt rose from their seats as soon as the proceedings started at 11.00 am, alleging that state Horticulture Minister Amrita Rawat misused her post and demanded to initiate a debate under article 310 into the matter.
Bhatt alleged that Rawat as Horticulture Minister misused her post while giving away subsidies to her MP husband Satpal Maharaj and son Suyash for establishing a polyhouse.
Speaker Govind Singh Kunjwal's request to BJP mebers to go to their chairs went in the vain after that he adjourned the proceedings at first till 11:45 am and then till 12:20 pm.
When proceedings started again, the Opposition members rose from their seats and stormed into the well demanding that the matter be probed by the CBI. After 15 minutes of pandemonium, the Speaker again adjourned the House till 3:00 pm.
However, Rawat, outside the Assembly, said that subsidy was given under the norms and no rule was violated. There is no rule that an MP or minister cannot be engaged in agricultural works, she said.
