BHUBANESWAR: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has decided to raise the issues of neglect of farmers and the rapidly deteriorating law and order situation in the state during the winter session of the Assembly which started on Friday.The BJP legislature party (BJPLP) which met here on Friday discussed several issues to be raised during the session. The meeting was presided over by leader of the BJP Legislature party KV Singhdeo. Criticising the State Government for its anti-farmer policies, secretary of the BJPLP Karendra Majhi alleged that farmers are yet to get any compensation for the loss suffered by them because of the unseasonal rains last year. Besides, the State Government has also failed to tackle the drought and flood situations, he said.Alleging that distress sale of paddy has now become a regular matter, Majhi said that the State Government has not taken any steps to solve the problems of the farmers. The BJP MLA said the State Government only pays lip service to the welfare of the tribals. He said it has initiated no steps to stop scheduled tribes and scheduled castes students leaving hostels because of mismanagement and ill-treatment, he said.Majhi said that the party will also raise the issue of multi-crore mining scam in the Assembly during the session.
