BHUBANESWAR: Train passengers had a harrowing time after a blockade at Nirakarpur led to detention of major trains for about four hours on Saturday. Death of a youth, following a group clash, led to the protest by hundreds of locals who blocked movement of trains at Nirakarpur, near Khurda. The blockade which started at 11.30 am continued well past 3 pm. As a result, major trains had to be detained. Konark Express was delayed by about two hours while a passenger train was cancelled. Falaknuma Express was detained for several hours and so were others from either side of Nirakarpur. After police and local authorities intervened and assured the agitators that the deadlock was broken.
