Hyderabad: Delhi Daredevils captain Virender Sehwag says his bowlers won the match for the team against Deccan Chargers.
Sehwag, whose breezy knock helped his team to score a nine-wicket win over the hosts, gave full credit to the bowlers, who destroyed the mighty batting line-up of the rivals.
"Our bowlers won the match for us. Mohammed Asif, Glenn McGrath and Farveez Maharoof bowled really well to contain Deccan Charges to less than 150 runs which was chaseable," he told newsmen in his post-match comments late Tuesday.
Registering their second straight win, the Delhi team achieved the target of 143 with seven overs to spare. Sehwag, who scored an unbeaten 94 off just 41 deliveries, felt that the win was easier than expected.
He, however, said he was not disappointed over missing the century. "I didn't even know my score. I am happy that my team has won," he said.
Sehwag, who hit Andrew Symonds for 30 runs in an over, said the Australian had no pace and he made use of this.
The Delhi skipper, however, said it was only a beginning, as the team has to play another 12 matches in the IPL. "It is just the beginning. Any team can win the tournament," he said.
"Deccan Chargers could not get a good start and their big batsmen failed," he said when asked about the hosts, who lost two matches on a trot.
So disappointed was Deccan Chargers' captain V.V.S. Laxman that he did not turn up for post-match press conference.
