Bhubhaneshwar: A bride and 14 other people were killed when a train rammed an SUV at an unmanned level crossing near Bargarh town in Orissa Sunday, officials said.
A Mahindra Bolero vehicle passing an unmanned level crossing near Bargarh town, some 380 km from here, was hit by the Bolangir-Bhubaneswar Intercity Express coming from Bolangir around 1600 hours (IST), East Coast Railway's chief public relations officer J P Mishra said.
According to the police, the passengers in the Bolero were members of a marriage party and the bride was among those killed.
"Fifteen people, including the bride, were killed," deputy superintendent of police D.P. Patra told IANS over phone from the spot.
Soon after the accident, hundreds of residents of the nearby villages rushed to the spot and did not allow the train to move for hours.
