Burglars hit med store, steal cash

CHENNAI: Burglars broke into a medical shop and decamped with the collection money at Thiruvanmiyur on Tuesday. Around 5.15 am, the break-in at Sri Vignesh Medicals on LB Road was noticed by a local resident, who informed the shop owner, V S Chellaperumal (38) immediately. Chellaperumal, a resident of Tiruvallur Nagar, had been running the shop jointly with his brother V S Vijayanarayanan for the last 11 years.The burglars appeared to have used a crowbar to break the locks, he said. On finding that they took Monday’s collection of Rs 24,000, he lodged a complaint. Police are investigating the crime.
