BYJD criticises Congress, BJP for flood politics

BHUBANESWAR: The Biju Yuva Janata Dal (BYJD) has criticised the opposition Congress and BJP for playing politics over the flood in the state which has affected 19 districts. General secretary Bijay Nayak also criticised the Centre for its stepmotherly attitude towards the State during natural calamities.
Though Prime Minister Manmohan Singh visited the floodaffected areas in 2006 and announced assistance of `200 crore, only `25 crore was released. Similarly, only `98 crore was released for 2008 floods though the damage was devastating, he said.He also took a dig at Union Minister Srikant Jena for his statement after visiting the floodhit areas that the Centre will step in if the State failed to provide relief to the affected people.
