New Delhi: Pakistan on Sunday morning indulged in a fresh ceasefire violation in the RS Pura Sector in Jammu and Kashmir. There has been no retaliation by the Indian troops so far, reports said
While the two neighbouring countries were locked in their opening match in the Cricket World Cup in Australia, Pakistani troops fired three bullet from small arms. The ceasefire violation by Pakistan was committed at 10.50 am.
Pakistan had indulged in ceasefire violations on at least three occasions in January. On January 13, Pakistan Rangers resorted to unprovoked targeting of the Border Security Force (BSF) posts on the international border in Jammu and Kashmir.
They used mortars and automatic weapons to target three border outposts of the BSF in Samba district of the Jammu region. However, the BSF retaliated effectively.
Earlier the same month, Pakistan had resorted to heavy firing in Hiranagar sector of Kathua district in Jammu and Kashmir killing one BSF soldier. Pakistani shells had landed three to four kilometres inside the Indian territory.
In the first week of January, the Pakistan forces had opened fire on four BSF posts in the Samba and Hiranagar sectors. The posts were targeted with small arms. However, no damage was reported.
Pakistan Rangers fired at the Indian border post, triggering a gun battle, officials said.
The Rangers opened fire, targeting a Border Security Force (BSF) post on the international border.
A police officer said the Rangers fired three rounds, once again violating the 2003 ceasefire between India and Pakistan on the Kashmir border.
The BSF, whose 127 battalion was at the post, retaliated. No one was injured on the Indian side.
"The firing stopped immediately after the Rangers used small arms to target the BSF outpost," the officer said.
