BANGALORE: It rained celebrities at the Chinnaswamy Stadium where the Celebrity Cricket League began on Saturday.The league consists of a series of cricket matches to be played between the Kannada, Tamil, Telugu and Hindi film fraternity.The theme song of Karnataka Bulldozers, representing the Kannada film industry, welcomed people as they entered the stadium. Delayed by half an hour, the opening ceremony was elaborate with folk dance performances, a new film promotion and a formal ceremony with actors like Salman Khan, Sohail Khan, Suniel Shetty, Ambareesh and Sarath Kumar who declared the games open.The first match was between the Chennai Rhinos and the Telugu Warriors.Dressed in jerseys specially made for the event, the actors from the Tamil and the Telugu film industry greeted their fans as they entered the ground.When an actor hit a six, a Tamil or Telugu song was played, which roared audiences’ cheer. Five overs into the first innings of the Chennai team, rain palyed the spoil sport forcing the players to take a break.More songs were played as the grounds were being prepared for the rain. Reluctant to leave, without seeing actors playing the game, fans waited in patience though it poured. Luckily, it soon stopped raining and the actors were back on the field.
