BANGALORE: Even as some organisations have threatened to disrupt Celebrity Cricket League (CCL), to be held from June 4, members of Jaya Karnataka have decided to support the tournament.
The CCL is being opposed because of the involvement of Ashok Kheny, the MD of NICE, the firm behind the Bangalore-Mysore Infrastructure Corridor (BMIC) project. The Jaya Karnataka members have said they would stall all efforts made to disrupt the CCL. He said it was not right to oppose a sports event only because Kheny was one sponsor. A few organizations have opposed the involvement of Kheny, alleging that the BMIC project has displaced hundreds of farmers without giving them sufficient compensation.
