NEW DELHI: Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy said on Tuesday the State is hopeful that the Prime Minister would be able to settle the Mullaperiyar dam row. “We have assured Water Resources Minister Pawan Kumar Bansal that TN will not lose even a litre of water from Mullaperiyar. All we want is security for our people... in the backdrop of the recent earthquake,” Chandy said. The dam had developed cracks after 2.3-magnitude tremors shook parts of Idukki district and Kottayam two days ago.Kerala has been pushing for the construction of a new dam at Mullaperiyar in the place of the existing one, and Tamil Nadu has been opposing it saying it would deprive water for irrigation to five districts in the State.Chandy also said that the government would be convening an all party meeting on Mullaperiyar dam issue in Thiruvananthapuram on Wednesday.
