BHUBANESWAR: Union Home Minister P Chidambaram will arrive on a day’s visit to the State on Wednesday. He will review the law and order situation, the growing base of Maoists in the State and the anti-Maoist operation at a meeting to be attended by senior officials of the Central Paramilitary Forces (CPMF), DGP, Home Secretary and intelligence wing officials.Chidambaram will also meet Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and discuss the overall law and order situation in the State. Sources said he is also likely to review implementation of various programmes under the Integrated Action Plan (IAP) and utilisation of funds meant for Maoist operation and police modernisation scheme at a high-level meeting. Sources said the State Government had prepared a detailed report on the Maoist activities and anti-Maoist operation. The Government would reiterate the urgent need to include Nuapada, Bargarh, Balangir and Kalahandi districts under the security-related expenditure scheme and extension of IAP to five more districts _ Jajpur, Bargarh, Dhenkanal, Nayagarh and Ganjam.The Chief Minister is likely to reiterate the State’s demand for waiver of charges amounting to ` 567.55 crore towards deployment of CPMF covering the period up to June 30, 2011.
