Chinna Jeeyars jibes draw reactions

TIRUMALA: The comments of Tridandi Srimannarayana Ramanuja Chinna Jeeyar Swamy over “lack of sanctity” on Tirumala have kicked up a fresh controversy with the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam authorities terming the comments as unfortunate. Chinna Jeeyar Swamy, who participated in Tulasi Yagam at Vizianagaram on Thursday night, said that Tirumala was resembling a club as it was was slowly losing its sanctity. He said TTD authorities got used to luxuries provided by various organisations and thus were neglecting  proper maintenance of the temple which had been losing its sheen over the years. “Look at Vatican City where we can witness the rich Roman culture and also the Christian tradition. But nowhere can one experience the devoutness and feel the sanctity of Tirumala,” he told the religious gathering.Reacting sharply to the remarks, TTD executive officer LV Subrahmanyam termed the comments as unfortunate that could hurt the religious sentiments of lakhs of people.
