Fairy tale characters Cinderella and her Prince Charming came to life recently when they, as part of a five-city tour across India, graced the Ampa Skywalk, much to the delight of young kids who had gathered to see them in flesh and blood. The event was sponsored by The Walt Disney Company. Kids outnumbered adults in the atrium of the mall. Young girls came dressed in shining pink or blue skirts, with little crowns adorning their small heads. Parents, gleefully, clicked snaps of their little ones. A make-shift palace was also created in the mall, to breathe life into the popular fairy tale. The event started with the Master of Ceremonyies posing many questions to the kids about the popular fairy tale. Who troubled Cinderella? What did she lose while rushing back from the ball? The kids answered these questions with nonchalance. And they were well rewarded with goodies for answering the questions right. The next round saw the fairy tale being retold on stage by two young storytellers, with paintings that helped depict the story. The kids went positively hysterical when finally Cinderella and the Prince came out of the makeshift palace and greeted them. The artistes looked the part. They looked as if they had come straight out of a fantasy world to meet their fans. For the kids, who were too young to differentiate between fantasy and reality, it was an opportunity to meet one of their favourite characters, about whom they had read, heard or watched in TV.
