Vaibhavi, a student of class 7 from Mangaluru, is being celebrated as a hero by the city police for her brave act, which saved the life of her mother. As reported by Local18, Karnataka’s CM Siddaramaiah praised the young girl for her quick thinking and strength. Here is more on the report. According to Local18, Vaibhavi’s mother Chetna was crossing a road in the Kinnigoli region when a speeding auto rickshaw collided with her, on Friday. The vehicle ended up getting overturned, trapping Chetna underneath it. Going by the CCTV footage of the incident, Vaibhavi is seen lifting the autorickshaw with her bare hands, to save her mother from a brutal injury. More details on the incident state the autorickshaw driver was attempting to swerve his vehicle to the side, to avoid a collision with Chetna. He lost control of it. She is currently undergoing treatment for major injuries at a private hospital in Surathkal, the reports added.
Vaibhavi’s incredible show of strength and thinking was lauded by the state’s CM as well as the police department, who invited her for a felicitation. As per the reports, Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner Mulai Mugilan and Mangaluru City Police Commissioner Anupam Agarwal, invited the student to their office, to award her a Letter of Appreciation. While CM Siddaramaiah, took to his official X handle to share a long tweet, commending the girl for the act. He concluded with the words, “The action of this little girl seems to send a message to the entire society.” The 13-year-old is a student of class 7, studying at St Mary’s School, in Kinnigoli.

The viral CCTV footage captured the whole incident, showing how the speeding vehicle violently swerved and trapped the woman in a matter of seconds. In an instant, Vaibavi is seen running towards her mother and lifting the autorickshaw, saving her from life-threatening injuries.
