HYDERABAD: Fearing more desertions from the party after the exit of three Congress MLAs, both chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy and APCC president Botcha Satyanarayana have decided to put an end to group rivalries in the DCCs, particularly in Telangana region. They are of the view that MLAs Jupalli Krishna Rao, T Rajaiah and Somarapu Satyanarayana had joined the Telangana Rashtra Samithi after quitting the Congress due to differences with some DCC leaders, including ministers.According to Congress sources, the chief minister is planning to hold district-wise review meetings by inviting incharge ministers, DCC presidents and senior party leaders to sort out differences, if any, among them. Pending local issues will also be solved at the meetings. Former chief minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy held similar meetings to prevent group rivalries in the DCCs. It is learnt that Satyanarayana who also holds the transport portfolio in the Kiran Kumar Reddy cabinet, has already started holding talks with the DCC leaders to sort out differences, if any, and elicit their views to strengthen the party from the grass-root level. He is advising Congress activists, including MPs and MLAs not to take any hasty decisions keeping in view the larger interests of the party. It may be recalled that former minister Jupalli has a ‘political rivalry’ with minister DK Aruna in Mahabubnagar district, while minister D Sridhar Babu has differences with Satyanarayana in Karimnagar. At present, there are group rivalries in majority of DCCs in Telangana region. In Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy districts, there are strained relations between ministers P Shankar Rao and D Nagender. MLAs M Shashidhar Reddy and late PJR’s son Vishnuvardhan Reddy have also got differences with ministers Nagender and M Mukesh Goud. Similarly, minister P Sabita Indra Reddy and her loyal MLAs in Ranga Reddy district belong to one group, while the other group is led by MLA K Laxma Reddy and some DCC leaders. As far as other Telangana districts are concerned, a ‘cold war’ is going on between deputy chief minister C Damodar Raja Narasimha and minister J Geeta Reddy in Medak. The ‘fight’ is between deputy speaker M Bhatti Vikramarka and former minister S Chandrasekhar in Khammam. In Warangal, minister Ponnala Lakshmaiah and former MLC N Rajalingam and MLA Gandra Venkata Ramana Reddy and rebel MLA Konda Surekha are involved in group rivalries. Former minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy and his loyal MLAs have locked horns with legislators loyal to the chief minister in Nalgonda. In Adilabad, the rival groups are headed by MLC Premsagar and former MP Indrakaran Reddy. The group rivalry in Nizamabad is between former APCC chief and MLC D Srinivas and former minister Mohd Shabber Ali, sources added.
