New Delhi: Accepting the victory with humility and grace, Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit on Monday attributed the success to development which she listed as the priority for the Congress government ahead of the Commonwealth Games.
Fresh from historic third consecutive victory, she said smooth conduct of the Commonwealth Games and over all development of the Capital would be the priorities before the next Congress government.
"Holding the Commonwealth Games in the best possible manner will be the most important work. Our next priority will be to continue with all the developmental works and economic prosperity and equitable growth of all the people of Delhi," she said.
"I am humbled. I am happy for the Congress Party. I am happy for the people of Delhi. Thank you for this gracious verdict," Dikshit said.
There should not be any politics on the issue of terrorism, she said.
"This is the victory of secular ethos. We must not politicise terrorism," she said. Asked about her thoughts, she said she was feeling extremely happy and was grateful to the people of Delhi for their "blessings".
Petroleum Minister Murali Deora went to her residence to congratulated her. Hundreds of workers also gathered at her residence to greet her on the occasion.
Congress retained power in Delhi in a keenly fought electoral battle. Dikshit and all six of her cabinet colleagues were among the successful candidates of the Congress.
Dikshit, the Chief Minister for past ten years, got 39,747 votes defeating BJP's Vijay Jolly, a one-time MLA, by a margin of 14,078 votes.
